Comrad Current Yellow Jersey Holders in Bike Wise Challenge
Comrad Medical Systems is currently leading the Bike Wise Challenge in their category. The Christchurch-based organisation, which deals in radiology information systems in New Zealand and Australia, has participated in previous Bike Wise challenges and are very motivated this year.
“All I had to do was send out a reminder email, telling everyone the challenge was starting on 1 February. We’re going to encourage some of the non-cyclists during the month too,” says project mManager Rick Godfrey.
It is Rick’s first year in the coordinator role, and he is leading by example by biking to work most days (except when family commitments or large parcels cause a change of plans). Rick puts Comrad’s success down to good communication prior to the 1 February Bike Wise Challenge start date and having a good bunch of keen cyclists.
The culture and location of the organisation also contribute. With good cycleways along Papanui Road, cycling is an excellent way to negotiate the Christchurch traffic and Comrad is very bike-friendly, with a shower and lock-up cycle cage at the workplace.
“A couple of us wander in wearing our cycle gear, log in and clear a few e-mails before the shower – no problems from any of our workmates,” says Rick
